Massachusetts Maritime Academy awarded Dr. Chao with its Inaugural Admiral's Distinguished Service Award for his lifetime of service to the maritime industry and unwavering commitment to maritime education at Mass Maritime Academy’s Annual Gala Dinner. He was also introduced as Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s 2017 Maritime Person of the Year – Mr. Christopher J.
