Chao Family Foundations and Foremost Group Leader Angela Chao Recognized as Inspirational

Jul 27, 2015

The Enduring Legacy of Mrs. Ruth Mulan Chu Chao to be honored by the International Leadership Foundation

The lifelong accomplishments of Dr. James S.C. Chao and his wife, the late Mrs. Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, will be memorialized by the International Leadership Foundation’s (ILF’s) selection of their daughter, Deputy Chair of Foremost Group, Angela Chao, as recipient of its 2015 ‘Inspirational Leader Award’. The award will recognize Angela Chao’s work at the helm of the Chao Family Foundations, and especially for continuing the commitment and passion of her mother for providing economic opportunity for Asian Americans. Angela Chao’s leadership in the business and philanthropic arenas were further attributes cited by the ILF in the bestowing of this award. As Angela will not be able to attend the Annual ILF Gala and Awards Dinner to accept the honor in person, the award will be collected in her name by her sister, The Honorable Elaine L. Chao.

The ILF annual Gala, taking place this year on July 30, 2015 at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, D.C, is an evening to recognize the outstanding achievements of corporate and individual leaders whose work creates prospects for and inspires the next generation of American leadership. Recipients also must display devotion to enhancing social and economic opportunities for Asian Pacific American citizens.

The ILF was especially moved by Mrs. Ruth Mulan Chao’s courage and leadership during wartime and her strenuous belief in the power of education as a route into economic and social success; a theme that has been carried forward by the efforts of the Chao Family Foundation, through its myriad of philanthropic endeavors focused on creating scholarship opportunities for students.

The International Leadership Foundation is a charitable organization, with a 15-city network of advisory boards consisting of professional and community leaders. Its mission is to create an infrastructure that will support the successful growth and development of future Asian Pacific American leaders.
