ICS Report: Chao Family Talks about Cross-Cultural Bridges at Shanghai Jiaotong University

The Chao family spent time on the Shanghai Jiaotong University campus in China’s Minhang district, during their week of festivities marking the 30th anniversary of the Shanghai Mulan Education Foundation. University students, teachers and officials were present for the unveiling of a sculpture of the late Mrs. Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, a long-time supporter of the University. Her daughters, Elaine Chao and Angela Chao, inspired an audience of 500 people with speeches focused on the message of moving through cultural differences to solidify the bonds between Eastern and Western societies, and in particular, Chinese and American societies. The visit to Jiaotong University followed a gala celebration at Shanghai Maritime University in Pudong, which brought together past recipients of Shanghai Mulan Education Foundation scholarships.
