Meeting with Minister Qiu Yuanping of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council

On March 28, Minister Qiu Yuanping of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council met with Ms. Angela Chao and her husband Mr. Jim Breyer. Angela is Deputy Chair of Foremost Group, and the daughter of Dr. James S.C. Chao, founder of Foremost Group. Minister Qiu said Dr. James S.C. Chao has built a successful business from scratch and raised six outstanding daughters. She is very impressed by the Chao family’s great contributions to foster US-China trade and cultural relations and exchanges. The Chao family has always had deep affection for China and their hometowns. Minister Qiu introduced China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative to her guests. She mentioned that since the introduction of the initiative more than 3 years ago, it has been widely accepted in many countries around the world. It will bring an immense amount of great opportunities for the vast population of overseas Chinese.


“We will continue our parents’ example and tradition to cherish our Chinese roots.” Angela said, “With the rapid development and progress of China, it has created opportunities for other countries in the world. The “One Belt, One Road” initiative is very important not only to China’s development, but for the many surrounding and neighboring countries, and thus the world, and the impact is being felt already. I hope to also be able to contribute to this important initiative that has the potential to raise the standard of living for so many.”
